… and wondered how it could be true – this level of stupid?

While I’m most often not shocked, I am often surprised by the particular form that stupidity can appear in. Like many things about the human condition, it doesn’t know the limitations of age, wealth, social position, status, religion – or pretty much any other form of categorizing. It’s kind of an equal opportunity employer, just as liable to get the hip, slick and cool folks as it is to strike anyone.

Now, it may not appear kind, or generous, or gentle, but sometimes it’s sensible to call stupid, stupid. And while sometimes I’m stupid, I seem to take great joy on discovering “the stupid” of others. It seems to relieve stress, as I then find myself feeling ever-so-momentarily superior – all the while knowing “That could be me!”. I think this is a pretty normal part of the human condition – and part of the miracle of how we can still survive, in spite of the occasional epidemic of stupidity we can find ourselves in!

Some things are hard to believe – yet they’re true… sometimes, they’re the stupid things – and sometimes, it only takes a glance in a mirror to remind myself that I’m just like everyone else, in my own unique way…
